I'm the Vice President of the School Board and liaison between the School Board and the Parents Club. I am especially the father of two students in the school.
I also have a Senior and a Sophomore. All of my children have attended Faith Christian Learning Center since Kindergarten.
I like the one-to-one teaching in this school as opposed to the group teaching in the public schools. I like the teacher-to-student ratio and the integration between the Bible and the learning materials. There are Bible memory verses on each page of the text.
It is comforting to me as a parent to know that my children receive sound teaching — not just in academics, but they develop grounding in the Scriptures. They don't just apply Biblical teachings at home, but they are lead in applying them in school. They experience life-based applications of Scriptures in their interaction with the other students. They are learning the biblical principles firsthand; not just learning the principles intellectually, but actually using them.
I also like the fact that this is a very safe environment. My children don't have to worry about drugs or about the violence that has developed at public schools. They haven't even been introduced yet to the concept of gangs or gang violence.
The learning methods here ensure that my children are really grounded in a subject before they move on to the next subject. If they miss a day of school, for example, there is no danger that they will get left behind. They will really master the material before they have to move on to the next level.
The school encourages parents to become as much involved as they wish — from extracurricular activities, field trips, fund raisers (which is what the Parent's Club does in particular) to aiding in the classroom — grading papers and answering questions. Some parents come in to work with art projects.
My children haven't even been introduced yet to the concept of gangs or gang violence.
The school board is a nominated, volunteer organization. We sponsor workdays, which permits adults to become familiar with the physical area their children are involved in. I'm really happy with this school.
I'm pleased with the instructors, all of whom are involved in the school as a ministry, since the pay isn't enough, by itself, to keep them here.
